Bio:

I have been playing drums for 12 years. and in that 12 years I have played with many interesting groups.  First off the school bands:

- Harriet Eddy Concert Band (7th and 8th grade)

- Elk Grove High Marching/Concert band (9th through 12th grade)

- Elk Grove High Percussion Ensemble (10th and 11th grade)

- Elk Grove High Jazz Band (11th and 12th grade)

- CRC Tuesday and Thursday night Jazz Ensembles (last two years)

And now for the non-school related bands:

- Out of Order, blues and classic rock cover band (10th grade through one year after high school)

- Plexxus, original music rock band. (presently with, link to that bands web site coming soon)

- This band!!!

- After Hours, Old school r and b cover band (that was a sit in)

- Steve Profit rock quartet (that was one night gig of improvised chaos at the Firedance bar and grille)  

A question one might ask me is, "Matt, what made you decide to start playing the drums?" And my answer to that would be, "how much time you got buddy?" basically I have been listening to music my whole life and it has always been a big part with how I deal with life.  Some of my early influeces include:

Ringo Starr, Rick Allen (def leppard), John Bohnam (led zeppeplin), Lars Ulrich (metallica), Keith Moon (the who), Mitch Mitchell (jimi hendrix), and anyone who I knew that owned a drumset and let a wide-eyed kid like me bang on it a few times.

And as I've gotten older and I've matured a little bit with my playing I started listening to jazz and funk, not just rock and roll. So some of my modern influeces include:

Neil Peart (rush), Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, Philly Joe Jones, Jack DeJohnette, Mike Portnoy (dream theatre), David Garibaldi (tower of power), Chad Sexton (311), Chad Smith (red hot chili peppers), Dennis Chambers, Lenny White, Dave Weckl, Harvey Mason, Stanton Moore (Galactic), Dannie Richmond, and countless others.
